Blackwater Gold Project

What was this engagement about?

New Gold Inc. (Proponent) is proposing to develop the Blackwater Gold Project, located approximately 110 km south of Vanderhoof (proposed Project). The proposed Project would be an open pit gold and silver mine with a production capacity of 60,000 tonnes per day.

The proposed Project is subject to review under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act and B.C.’s Environmental Assessment Act.

How can my contribution make a difference?

Public comments were sought to ensure that all potential effects – environmental, economic, social, heritage and health – that might result from the Project are identified for consideration as part of the assessment process. Citizens were invited to comment online, by email, fax, mail or to attend an information session in Fraser Lake (Oct. 15) or Vanderhoof (Oct. 16).
