Great Bear Rainforest

What was this engagement about?

The purpose of the blog was to provide updates on events, stories and experiences of those involved in various capacities with the Great Bear Rainforest. Many topics such as ways to conserve it, the benefit it provides our province, and its legacy are available on the Great Bear Rainforest website.

The Great Bear Rainforest is a global treasure that covers 6.4 million hectares on British Columbia’s north and central coast – equivalent in size to Ireland.

The historic agreement that secures the future of the Great Bear Rainforest means more old- and second-growth forest will be protected, while still ensuring opportunities for low-impact economic development and jobs for local First Nations.

How can my contribution make a difference?

The input gathered from the engagement ran from November 4, 2016 to August 18, 2017 and will be used to help develop learning resources and further raise awareness of the Great Bear Rainforest and the people who have lived there for more than 12,000 years.
