What is this engagement about?
British Columbia’s Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, Mike Farnworth, has announced that government intends to regulate how tickets for live events are bought and sold, to make it fairer for British Columbians. This includes, for example, tickets for music concerts, sports, live theatre and other cultural or recreational events.
We want to hear from British Columbians who have bought, or have tried to buy, tickets for live events, and those who sometimes resell their tickets. This will help us understand:
- your experiences buying tickets (online or otherwise),
- your experiences reselling tickets you have purchased, and
- what changes are needed to improve fairness in the buying and selling of tickets, ensure consumers have the information they need when buying tickets, and provide protections against fraudulent tickets.
Feedback will be accepted until March 27, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
How can my contribution make a difference?
Your input will help ensure the approach will work for British Columbia. Input will be considered as government develops ways to improve fairness in the buying and selling of tickets. All information provided by individuals will be combined and reported so that no individual will be identifiable. Feedback will be summarized into a pubic report that will be posted on this site in summer 2018.
