Caribou are a nationally iconic species in British Columbia
Welcome to the Provincial Caribou Recovery Engagement site. This site is home to your opportunity to engage on caribou recovery.
Caribou Recovery Program
Caribou are a nationally iconic species and British Columbia is home to 55 herds of woodland caribou. Despite significant investments in managing these herds, some of our caribou populations have become threatened. We continue to invest in the recovery and maintenance of our caribou for future generations and this will take a group effort from all who call British Columbia home.
We are engaging at multiple levels and have a variety of opportunities to receive feedback from anyone interested in caribou recovery. Some engagement topics require deep conversations with select groups and individuals. While other engagement topics are broadly open to all. We look forward to working with you. Your feedback will help us recover caribou.
The Caribou management team sought input from stakeholders, interest groups and the citizens of B.C. on a five-year approval for continued predator reduction to support the recovery of woodland caribou. The engagement was open September 15th to November 15th, 2021.
Winter Motorized Recreation Management Plan Engagement
The Caribou management team sought input on the draft Winter Motorized Recreation Management Plan in the South Peace for the Central Group of Southern Mountain Caribou. The engagement was open from May 19 to July 14, 2021 online through feedback form and maps.
