What is this engagement about?
The Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) is revitalizing the environmental assessment process to ensure the rights of First Nations are respected, and the public’s expectation of a strong, transparent process are met. One focus of this initiative is improving the way the EAO engages the public throughout the environmental assessment process.
From Sept 6th to October 7th, British Columbians are encouraged to provide feedback to the EAO on how they would like to be engaged if a major project is proposed near their community. Prior experience with an environmental assessment is not necessary.
To provide feedback, please take the following survey.
Organizations wishing to make a formal submission regarding this engagement should visit the Guidelines for Formal Submissions on Regulations and Policies page for additional details.
Feedback will be accepted until October 7, 2019 at 11:59pm PDT.
How can my contribution make a difference?
Feedback gathered through the survey will be instrumental in guiding the EAO’s public engagement activities moving forward. The feedback collected will directly inform the EAO’s public engagement policy. A What We Heard Report will be released in November and will reflect what was heard, and how the EAO will change its engagement efforts based on the feedback received.
