Watershed Security Strategy and Fund Discussion Paper

What was this engagement about?

Protecting our watersheds is one of the most important things we can do as a province to create a healthier and more resilient future for all living things. The Watershed Security Strategy and Fund builds on efforts inside and outside of government to ensure our water and watersheds are respected and valued for all they provide. Government’s commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples will be foundational to this work.

Feedback on the discussion paper was invited between January 25 and March 18, 2022 at 4 PM through an online questionnaire or written submissions.

To learn more on the background, overall process, scope of the engagement and timeline, please visit the project page.

Written submissions were accepted before March 18th, 2022 at 4pm. Submissions may be publicly shared.

How will my contribution make a difference?

Government will use the feedback received during this engagement to help develop options for the Watershed Security Strategy and Fund.  A draft Watershed Security Strategy will be released for a second period of Indigenous and public engagement in fall 2022.
