COVID-19 Lessons Learned Review – Results



Engagement summary

On Mar. 2, 2022, the B.C. Government announced an independent review and public consultation on government’s operational response to the COVID-19 pandemic to better inform preparations and responses to future emergencies. The independent review including a public engagement survey. The independent review was led by Bob de Faye, Daniel Perrin, and Chris Trumpy.

Engagement timeframe

The public engagement survey was held between Mar. 16 and Apr. 20, 2022.

Input received

Nearly 15,000 people responses to the public engagement survey.

The survey was available in 13 languages and received the following results:

  • English: 14,659 completions
  • Spanish: 7 completions
  • French: 8 completions
  • Japanese: 14 completions
  • Korean: 15 completions
  • Traditional Chinese: 21 completions
  • Simplified Chinese: 14 completions
  • Punjabi: 1 completion
  • Hindi: 2 completions
  • Arabic: 2 completions
  • Farsi / Persian: 1 completion
  • Tagalog: 2 completions
  • Vietnamese: 0 completions

Additionally, the independent review project team spoke with over 200 people representing about 145 groups and organizations in over 70 engagement sessions. They received 13 written submissions from stakeholders. An online survey for local governments received 15 responses.
