{"id":1485,"date":"2016-09-07T10:17:47","date_gmt":"2016-09-07T17:17:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/?post_type=impact&#038;p=1485"},"modified":"2023-03-09T15:18:15","modified_gmt":"2023-03-09T23:18:15","slug":"vendor-and-ministry-outreach-sessions-results","status":"publish","type":"engagement","link":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/engagement\/vendor-and-ministry-outreach-sessions-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Vendor and Ministry Outreach Sessions"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"wp-block-post-title\">Vendor and Ministry Outreach Sessions<\/h1>\n\n<h2><strong>Engagement Summary:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In 2014 and 2015, a series of consultations were held about how to make it easier for government to welcome innovative ideas from the marketplace.<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\nOne of the issues government has heard repeatedly is the difficulty associated with finding the right person to talk to when a vendor has an innovative product or service that government may not know exists. This topic was documented in the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/assets\/gov\/business\/business-management\/business-and-government\/doingbusinesswithgovtproject_v04.pdf\">Doing Business with Government<\/a>&nbsp;report, and resulted in recommendation #10: To implement a new policy and approach for welcoming new ideas.<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\nAs part of its commitment to these recommendations, the Province has created a project under the umbrella of procurement transformation. More information about procurement transformation is&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/governments\/services-for-government\/bc-bid-resources\/support-services\/procurement-transformation\">available online<\/a>.<br>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Timeframe: <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p> Ongoing<br>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Input Received: <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In 2014, outreach sessions took place throughout British Columbia to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Share an understanding of the operating context;<\/li>\n<li>Identify ways for businesses to bring innovative goods and services to the Province; and<\/li>\n<li>To gather recommendations for how to structure a future model\/process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There were three ministry sessions held in Prince George, Kelowna and Kamloops, with a total of 16 participants; and four vendor sessions in Prince George, Kelowna, Kamloops and Vancouver, with a total of 63 participants. The input received from these outreach sessions was used to create a survey that received 271 vendor responses and 21 ministry responses.<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\nIn 2015, 18 ministry employees were interviewed, representing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A cross section of roles from administrative to senior management;<\/li>\n<li>A range of specialization from administration to procurement specialists; and<\/li>\n<li>Varying experience levels, from never receiving innovative ideas to receiving, reviewing and procuring<br>\ninnovative ideas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Input leads to action:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Innovative Ideas Project:&nbsp;A project team was created in 2015 to analyze the data listed above and define the project scope.&nbsp; A continuous improvement workshop, Kaizen, took place in February 2016 to highlight opportunities for improvement, to draft a new process for sharing ministry and broader public sector opportunity statements, and for receiving innovative ideas from the vendor community.&nbsp; Attendees to the Kaizen event included ten ministry and nine vendor representatives.<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\nThe recommendations stemming from the Innovative Ideas consultation and workshop have been prepared for executive review.<br>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","engagement_category":[252],"engagement_region":[192],"engagement_status":[207],"engagement_pin_group":[],"class_list":["post-1485","engagement","type-engagement","status-publish","hentry","engagement_category-economy-and-jobs","engagement_region-province-wide","engagement_status-closed-with-results"],"acf":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"pinned_engagement_toggle":false,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement\/1485","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/engagement"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement\/1485\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":62637,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement\/1485\/revisions\/62637"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1485"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"engagement_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement_category?post=1485"},{"taxonomy":"engagement_region","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement_region?post=1485"},{"taxonomy":"engagement_status","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement_status?post=1485"},{"taxonomy":"engagement_pin_group","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement_pin_group?post=1485"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
