The Conservancy is 48km northeast of Port McNeill on Vancouver Island and 290 km northwest of Vancouver. The Provincial Government recognizes Burdwood Group as being within the consultative area of the Mamalilikulla, Dzawada\u2019enuxw and Kwikwasut\u2019inuxw Haxwa\u2019mis First Nations. Established on March 13, 2009 pursuant to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bclaws.ca\/civix\/document\/id\/lc\/billsprevious\/4th38th:gov38-1\">Protected Areas of British Columbia (Conservancies and Parks) Amendment Act<\/a> (2008), the Burdwood Group protects largely undisturbed forested upland habitats within a rich and diverse marine environment.<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\nA management plan for the Conservancy was drafted as the result of a collaborative planning process between the Mamalilikulla-Qwe\u2019Qwa\u2019Sot\u2019Em First Nation and BC Parks.
