class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"summary\">Engagement Summary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>B.C.\u2019s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) balances government\u2019s accountability to the public with a person\u2019s right to privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The COVID-19 pandemic changed how government does business. Technology is used now more than ever to deliver services to people. In 2021, B.C. engaged with a variety of partners to understand how the pandemic and growing expectations for online services have impacted the way people view government information access and privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through roundtable meetings and presentations to partner organizations, B.C. heard from over 2,900 public bodies covered by FOIPPA. Also, public surveys were hosted to learn how the public\u2019s perception of information access and privacy protection has changed since the pre-COVID survey in 2018.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"results\">Results<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over 75 organizations participated in roundtable meetings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over 1,700 survey responses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Later in 2021, proposed changes to FOIPPA were informed by the input received during this engagement.
