{"id":20712,"date":"2018-09-11T12:27:05","date_gmt":"2018-09-11T19:27:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/?post_type=impact&#038;p=20712"},"modified":"2023-03-09T10:27:57","modified_gmt":"2023-03-09T18:27:57","slug":"environmental-assessment-revitalization-results","status":"publish","type":"engagement","link":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/engagement\/environmental-assessment-revitalization-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Environmental Assessment Revitalization"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"wp-block-post-title\">Environmental Assessment Revitalization<\/h1>\n\n<h2><strong>Engagement Summary<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Provincial Government is reviewing B.C.\u2019s Environmental Assessment Process to ensure the legal rights of First Nations are respected and the public\u2019s expectation of a strong, transparent process is met.<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\nRevitalization of the Environmental Assessment Process will focus on three key outcomes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enhancing public confidence, transparency and meaningful participation;\n<\/li><li>Advancing reconciliation with First Nations; and\n<\/li><li>Protecting the environment while supporting clear pathways to sustainable project approvals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There were several ways to participate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read the Discussion Paper and provide your feedback\n<\/li><li>Complete an online engagement survey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp; <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Engagement Timeframe<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>June 18 to July 30, 2018<br>\n&nbsp; <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Input Received<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Over 550 completed online surveys\n<\/li><li>Over 2,500 submissions on proposed changes to B.C.&#8217;s environmental assessment process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp; <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Input leads to action:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/app\/uploads\/sites\/121\/2018\/09\/What_We_Heard_Report_final.pdf\">What We Heard Report<\/a> has been released that outlines the themes of feedback we heard from the public, in addition to the themes we heard from over 60 formal submissions from Indigenous nations, industry, NGOs, health authorities and representative organizations.
