{"id":30521,"date":"2019-10-23T15:46:19","date_gmt":"2019-10-23T22:46:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/?post_type=consultation&#038;p=30521"},"modified":"2023-03-09T12:48:33","modified_gmt":"2023-03-09T20:48:33","slug":"old-growth-strategic-review","status":"publish","type":"engagement","link":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/engagement\/old-growth-strategic-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Old Growth Strategic Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"wp-block-post-title\">Old Growth Strategic Review<\/h1>\n\n<h2><strong>What was this engagement about?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On July 17, 2019, the Government of British Columbia announced that a two-person panel had been appointed to lead an Old Growth Strategic Review and provide a report to the Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development.<\/p>\n<p>Garry Merkel, a professional forester, natural resource expert, and member of the Tahltan Nation, and Al Gorley, a professional forester and former chair of the Forest Practices Board, engaged the public to hear perspectives on the ecological, economic and cultural importance of old-growth trees and forests.
