During this phase, we consulted all First Nations in B.C., and engaged stakeholders and the public on the draft\u00a0<em>Together for Wildlife<\/em>\u00a0strategy.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content?id=25AD6B7027A8407A96E6D158F08FC729\">Together for Wildlife website.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Engagement Timeframe<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>November 22, 2019 to January 9, 2020<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Input Received<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>733 on-line surveys completed<\/li>\n<li>20 submissions received from stakeholder groups<\/li>\n<li>18 submissions received from members of the general public<\/li>\n<li>Consultation with First Nations completed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Input leads to action:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The key messages heard were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure sufficient, dedicated, long-term funding for wildlife and habitat stewardship;<\/li>\n<li>Do not delay on implementing the strategy;<\/li>\n<li>Introduce new legislation that puts wildlife and habitat \u201con par\u201d with land use activities, and ensures the same rules apply to all land users; and,<\/li>\n<li>Work together with First Nations, stakeholders, local communities and across government to successfully implement the strategy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To address this input, the following changes were made to the final strategy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Added a new action to review existing, and consider new, creative funding models, and make recommendations to ensure sufficient, dedicated, long-term funding for wildlife and habitat stewardship in BC;<\/li>\n<li>Referenced providing support and advice to the Minister on new and existing legislation, under the mandate for Minister\u2019s Wildlife Advisory Council; and<\/li>\n<li>Broadened reference to related programs across government under actions for the establishment of a Minister\u2019s Wildlife Advisory Council, regional Wildlife Advisory Committees, and First Nation-BC Wildlife Forum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Ministry has already begun to implement several actions and are developing an implementation plan to ensure critical work begins immediately and momentum is sustained.<\/p>\n<p>To find out more, read the <a href=\"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/app\/uploads\/sites\/121\/2021\/04\/phase-3-what-we-heard-summary.pdf\">What We Heard summary repor<\/a>t.<\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","engagement_category":[282],"engagement_region":[192],"engagement_status":[207],"engagement_pin_group":[],"class_list":["post-34707","engagement","type-engagement","status-publish","hentry","engagement_category-wildlife-and-habitat-protection","engagement_region-province-wide","engagement_status-closed-with-results"],"acf":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"pinned_engagement_toggle":false,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement\/34707","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/engagement"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement\/34707\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":62552,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement\/34707\/revisions\/62552"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=34707"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"engagement_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement_category?post=34707"},{"taxonomy":"engagement_region","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement_region?post=34707"},{"taxonomy":"engagement_status","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement_status?post=34707"},{"taxonomy":"engagement_pin_group","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/engagement_pin_group?post=34707"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
