The input will be used to help improve and complete the project design.<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\nThe Government of B.C., the Government of Canada and the Township of Langley are investing $59 million in the project, which will include the new interchange and lane widening of Highway 1 between 202nd and 216th Street. The 216th Street Interchange Project aims to better accommodate the current daily traffic volume of more than 106,000 vehicles on Highway 1 by helping to reduce congestion and increasing capacity and mobility. This is part of the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/transportationplan\/\">B.C. on the Move Transportation Plan<\/a>&nbsp;to improve highway operations, reliability and safety by building or replacing transportation infrastructure.<br>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Engagement Timeframe:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p> March 24 to April 21, 2016<br>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Input Received;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>3,331 visits to the website.<\/li>\n<li>Six stakeholder meetings with more than 110 representatives in attendance.<\/li>\n<li>Seven First Nations group meetings with more than 15 representatives in attendance.<\/li>\n<li>481 attendees at the public open house (held on March 31, 2016).<\/li>\n<li>310 people submitting feedback forms.<\/li>\n<li>485 people signing up to receive project update emails.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Input leads to action:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<br>\nThere will be more opportunities to provide feedback throughout the project.<\/p>\n<p>Following consultation activities, the ministry has completed a public engagement summary report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/assets\/gov\/driving-and-transportation\/reports-and-reference\/reports-and-studies\/lower-mainland\/highway1-216th-consultation.pdf\">Engagement Summary Report<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 October 2016<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/highway1and216\/files\/2016\/10\/216-Summary-Report-Appendices-October-27-2016.pdf\">Appendices<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/highway1and216\/files\/2016\/10\/216-Ortho-Map-Final-Design-Oct-27-2016.pdf\">Project Design Map<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Ministry of Transportation and infrastructure is pleased to announce that as of September 4, 2020, the 216th Street Interchange and Highway 1 Improvement Project is open to the public. <\/p>\n<p>Recent photos of the completed construction are available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/transportation\/transportation-infrastructure\/projects\/highway1-216th\">project website<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Landscaping along 216th Street will be ongoing for the month of September.
