summary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Province collected feedback as part of its overall work to design an effective system of services for children and youth with support needs. This engagement was inclusive of families, service providers, advocates, experts, those with lived experience, First Nations, and Indigenous Peoples. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Province organized its tasks into three categories to inform future children and youth with support needs (CYSN) services:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Engagements<\/strong>: re-engage in meaningful dialogue with multiple audiences on the future of CYSN services in B.C.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reports and research<\/strong>: compile and analyze evolving research to identify themes, recommendations, and learnings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Learning and doing<\/strong>: program enhancements, co-developed Indigenous-led services, and implementation of four pilot Family Connections Centres, with an opportunity to learn from these activities and better understand their impacts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The information gathered from these categories will inform the path forward. This will involve the Ministry of Children and Family Development, working closely with the Ministry of Health, Indigenous peoples, key partners, and people with lived experience, to consider and codesign a service model that can better serve families in B.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"participate\">How people participated<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There were numerous engagement initiatives for different audiences and partners \u2013 including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Families and people with lived experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First Nations Rights and Titleholders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Urban Indigenous, M\u00e9tis, and historically underrepresented groups<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Service providers and sector partners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/health\/managing-your-health\/child-behaviour-development\/support-needs\/cysn-community-engagement\">Learn more about the different engagement pathways<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"FN-rights\">First Nations Rights and Titleholders engagement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Province engaged in a co-development process with First Nations Rights and Titleholders. This included an engagement process to explore First Nations Rights and Titleholders\u2019 vision for their children, families and communities. <a href=\"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/govtogetherbc\/engagement\/children-and-youth-with-support-needs-first-nations-engagement\/\">Learn more about the engagement.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"community\">Community partner engagement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Province collaborated with community partners that have experience with local communities and established relationships across B.C. Together they engaged in meaningful dialogue about the future of CYSN services. Topics included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/assets\/gov\/family-and-social-supports\/children-teens-with-support-needs\/bcacdi_position_paper_april-2024.pdf\">Parents and Professionals Plan<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increasing behavioural complexity and needs of children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BC Association of Child Development and Intervention\u2019s (BCACDI) <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/assets\/gov\/family-and-social-supports\/children-teens-with-support-needs\/bcacdi_position_paper_april-2024.pdf\">Service Delivery Transformation proposal<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ministry of Education and Child Care\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/family-social-supports\/caring-for-young-children\/information-for-partners-providers\/inclusive-child-care#strategy\">Inclusive Child Care Strategy<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"feedback\">Online feedback form<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>People were invited to share their perspective and experiences through a short feedback form that asked: When thinking about what you need from a new system of services for children and youth with support needs, what is most important?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"submissions\">Written submissions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All people in B.C., including families, service providers, organizations, professionals, and Indigenous communities were invited to submit their ideas for what a new effective system of CYSN services should look like in B.C.
