Process & Timelines
The Project is currently in the detailed design phase which began in fall 2019 and is anticipated to be complete in 2021. During the design process, the Ministry will engage with stakeholders, local Indigenous groups, and community members to refine the design. Construction is currently planned to begin in 2021 and be complete in 2024 subject to final provincial government approval.
Public Engagement Process – Winter 2021
Engaging with the local and regional governments, Indigenous groups, stakeholders, interest groups, and community members is important to help shape the proposed design to increase capacity, safety, and reliability. This winter 2021, a public engagement process was held to hear feedback form the public about the proposed design. The process was an online engagement process to adhere to physical distancing guidelines in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We received many comments and questions about this project and look forward to sharing back what we heard this spring 2021. Input will be considered during design refinement and will form part of the engagement record.
