Brian’s perspective on housing supply and affordability:
I have been actively involved in housing creation and community building for over 30 years. Never in my career have I experienced so much energy spent on the housing affordability issue facing the community, particularly in Metro Vancouver and Greater Toronto. Over the past few years, politicians elected at all levels of government, have been struggling to make a difference. Many of the newly created policies are just not working. Generating new supply, by both the private and non-profit sectors, and reducing red tape while streamlining building approvals are critically important. I’m excited to bring my personal experience to this Panel in hopes that we can generate creative, bolder ideas, that government will act upon, so we can truly make a difference.
