Process and Timelines
There were two engagement activities during the Interior Forest Renewal public consultation.
The first activity included an online feedback form or the opportunity to submit a formal submission. The feedback collected during this process is now helping government determine the next steps in forestry policy changes.
The second engagement activity, the Timber Supply Area Coalition process, is an opportunity for industry leaders to connect with the Indigenous community and labour leaders in the area(s) they operate to self-formulate coalitions willing to work together on localized visions for the forest sector’s future. This coalition forming process ran in parallel to the broader engagement noted above and, because this activity is continuing, timing and outcomes will vary.
A What We Heard Report on feedback received during this engagement is expected to be released spring 2020.
The online public engagement period ran from July 18, 2019 to October 11, 2019 at 4 pm.
Feedback collected is helping government determine the next steps in forest policy changes.
