Update 1 – October 29, 2015

The engagement process is now open for the public to provide initial input on important considerations to include as the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure starts to develop concepts for the McKenzie Interchange project. Initial input can be submitted by sending an email to mckenzieinterchange@gov.bc.ca

Progress is being made on the design for this new interchange that will be located on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) at the intersection with Admirals Road and McKenzie Avenue.

Preliminary technical work has been completed which includes the collection of geotechnical data on the depth, type and consistency of the soils as well as the depth of the rock in the project area. Traffic counts have also been analysed.

The engineering team is now reviewing this information, which will help determine the possible configuration of the interchange.

Along with this technical information, feedback from the public, road users, First Nations, local governments and stakeholders will be considered as the project team continues to work on the interchange design.

The conceptual project design will be presented at an open house on November 17, 2015, between 3:00-7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish Hall – 753 Burnside Road West.
