What is this engagement about?<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Through consultation and cooperation with First Nations and through engagement with industry, local governments, environmental non-government organizations, and all interested groups we seek to reform the Mineral Tenure Act in alignment with the principles of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engagement is an open, transparent process designed to provide multiple opportunities \u2013 through a variety of channels \u2013 for people to learn about Mineral Tenure Act reform, speak up about it, and help to inform it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working together, we can modernize the Mineral Tenure Act while maintaining a vibrant mineral exploration and mining sector that continues to contribute to reconciliation and economic prosperity for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mineral Claims Consultation Framework (MCCF) in British Columbia<\/h3>\n
The Mineral Tenure Act Modernization Office (MTAMO) has defined two streams of work: work to develop a Mineral Claims Consultation Framework (MCCF) to be in place for March 26, 2025 to respond to a BC Supreme Court (BCSC) ruling, and work to update the Mineral Tenure Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
