The purpose of this engagement is to solicit feedback from a diverse group of stakeholders, including qualified professionals (QPs), those who use QPs in both government and the private sector,  and the general public, as to how the current professional reliance model is performing, and to provide suggestions as to possible enhancements or changes required.

Scope

For the purpose of this engagement, feedback was sought on the role/appropriateness of professional reliance in environmental and natural resource use decision making. “Qualified Professional” includes qualified professional, qualified environment professional, or qualified registered professional, approved professional and authorized persons, who are not provincial government employees.The professions involved include engineers, geoscientists, foresters, biologists, agrologists and applied science technologists. Their professional associations include:

  • BC Institute of Agrologists
  • Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC
  • College of Applied Biology
  • Engineers and Geoscientists of BC
  • Association of BC Forest Professionals
