Online engagement for the Rural Development Strategy is now closed. Stakeholders were invited to provide submissions and comments until March 7, 2018. Feedback will be analyzed and compiled into a report that will be posted to this site in Spring 2018.

What Happens to your input

The results of the engagement are being analyzed and will be compiled by the Ministry and posted to this site in spring 2018.

Government will use the information gathered to build a framework for a Rural Development Strategy. The framework will support ongoing dialogue and input between rural B.C. and the Province in finalizing and implementing the Strategy.

 Stakeholder Engagement Sessions

Face-to-face sessions were held across the province to gain input and insight into rural development opportunities and priorities.  Sixteen sessions were held between December 14, 2017 and March 2, 2018 in all areas of the province – from Fort St. John to Port McNeill, to Cranbrook. These sessions were led by local organizations, and reflect the Province’s desire to partner with rural stakeholders to help us gain a deeper understanding of the needs and priorities of their rural communities.

In addition to face-to-face session, over 50 key stakeholders were interviewed for their knowledge, expertise and experience working in rural communities. These interviews were documented and will inform the Rural Development Strategy.
