They are widely accepted and recognized standards of practice that help individuals avoid and reduce potential negative impacts. Best management practices also support applicants seeking to carry out this work or activity, which promotes efficient and timely application reviews and decision-making for permitting.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In 2019, a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/assets\/gov\/environment\/air-land-water\/water\/working-around-water\/south_coast_cias_guidance.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">general guidance document<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> was made to assist applicants in the South Coast Region. In 2022, the Province published its most recent version of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/assets\/gov\/environment\/air-land-water\/water\/working-around-water\/wsa-cias-requirements-bmps.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">best management practices<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> for projects proposed to work or make changes in and about streams. The Province is considering more updates to existing best management practices based on new information and gaps or issues in the application process.
