Changes are being considered in order to help ensure insurance premiums more accurately reflect a driver’s history and risk. This would result in the majority of B.C. drivers (about two-thirds) seeing lower Basic insurance premiums and one-third (high-risk drivers) seeing increased rates.

For those customers who would see Basic insurance rate increases (for example, high-risk drivers with prior at-fault claims or those who have multiple or serious driving convictions), government is considering a transition period that would manage the premium increase over time.
