Wildfire and Flood Above and Beyond Awards
Engagement Summary
The Premier and the Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development of British Columbia announced that the Province would be opening public nominations for the Wildfire and Flood ‘Above and Beyond Awards’ to give the citizens of British Columbia the opportunity to recognize their friends, relatives, neighbours and colleagues for acts of selflessness and bravery in response to BC’s 2017 wildfires and floods.
British Columbians were able to nominate their fellow citizens through the Province’s website, and nominees received a certificate from the Province honouring their efforts.

Individuals were nominated for the service they provided in response to the wildfires or floods. All nominees received a certificate commemorating their work signed by the Premier. The work and sacrifice of hundreds upon hundreds of British Columbians from all walks of life in response to 2017’s wildfires and floods was a true demonstration of the strength and selflessness of the people of BC, and these awards are a small way for the Province, and the people of the Province to say thank you.
