Ancient Forest
Engagement Summary
The Ancient Forest/Chun T’oh Wudujut, about 113 kilometres east of Prince George is home to unique ecosystems, and some of the oldest trees in the country.
The Province announced on July 17, 2015 that it was taking action to preserve the Ancient Forest and called for public input into the planning process. Public comments were invited between October 6 and November 2, 2015.

Input leads to action:
- The Province worked with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, the Caledonia Ramblers Hiking Society and community stakeholders in addition to the public consultation.
- On March 15, 2016 the Province announced that the Ancient Forest would be the newest Class A Provincial Park.
- The park designation ensures this unique habitat will be excluded from timber harvesting and other commercial activity, which helps preserve plant ecosystems, wildlife habitat and cultural values.
