Angling and Hunting Photo Contests
Engagement Summary
The Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations holds a photo contest each year for its publications The Hunting and Trapping Regulation Synopsis, which is published every even year, and the Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis, which is published every odd year. Prior to each publication a photo contest is held to determine the image for the cover.
The Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis is the go-to sourcebook for anglers throughout the province and contains all sport fishing regulations in effect in freshwater in British Columbia.
The Hunting and Trapping Regulation Synopsis is a summary of the regulations made under the Wildlife Act, and prepared for the convenience of hunters and trappers.
Timeframe:
Ongoing – Contestants must submit their photos by email by October 1 of the year prior to the publication.
Input Received:
Each year approximately 100 photos are received; a shortlist is then made from which the winner is selected. The winning photo is decided upon by the Provincial Hunting and Trapping Advisory Team or the Provincial Angling Advisory Team (as applicable).
