Bruhn Bridge Replacement Project – Phase 1
Engagement Summary
The B.C. Government asked British Columbians to share their thoughts on the Bruhn Bridge Replacement Project.
The Trans-Canada Highway 1 RW Bruhn Bridge Project extends along Highway 1 west of Old Sicamous Road to east of Gill Avenue, and includes potential intersection improvements/turn-lanes at Old Sicamous Road, Old Spallumcheen Road, Gill Avenue and Silver Sands Road. This project is part of the Highway 1 Kamloops to Alberta Four-Laning Program.

November 15, 2016 to January 15, 2017
Input Received:
- 266 people attended a public open house
- 314 completed feedback forms
- 24 written submissions
Input leads to action:
- As a result of planning work and stakeholder consultation, the ministry developed the following three options:
- Option 1 – a new six-lane bridge on Highway 1;
- Option 2 – a new five-lane bridge on Highway 1; and
- Option 3 – a new four-lane bridge on Highway 1 with an additional Main Street Bridge.
- According to the response, Option 2 had the highest level of agreement (65 %), followed by Option 1 (35%) and Option 3 (32%).
- Since 2001, the provincial and federal governments have invested or committed approximately $1.45 billion on the Trans-Canada Highway between Kamloops and the Alberta border to improve reliability and to upgrade the highway to a modern, 100-kilometre per-hour, four-lane standard.
