Draft Policy for Issuing Park Use Permits for Research Purposes
What was this engagement about?
BC Parks clarified the legislative and policy framework for research activities in parks and protected areas. Legislative amendments in Bill 4, the Park Amendment Act, 2014 were approved March 24th, 2014 and provide clarity on BC Parks’ ability to issue park use permits for research activities. The Research Policy (draft) will guide decision makers on assessing research activity requests and provides considerations that decision makers will use to determine whether or not to issue a permit.
How did my contribution make a difference?
BC Parks received a number of comments on the draft research policy during the review and comment period extending from March 6th to April 4th, 2014. Many comments indicated that additional time for comment on the policy was desired. BC Parks acknowledged these comments by re-opening the online form for comment submission on the draft policy until May 12th, 2014.
