Aurora LNG – Digby Island Project (EAO)
What was this engagement about?
Aurora LNG (Proponent) is proposing to construct and operate the Aurora LNG Project (proposed Project), a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility and marine terminal for the export of LNG. The proposed Project would be located on the southeast corner of Digby Island near Prince Rupert, B.C. The proposed Project would export up to 24 million tonnes per annum of LNG.
The Proponent has submitted the draft Application Information Requirements (AIR), which sets out the information that the Proponent must include in their Application for an environmental assessment certificate. Public comments were invited on the draft AIR until October 1, 2015. The AIR is available here.
In order to provide information to the public about the AIR, the Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) invited the public to attend an Open House held in Prince Rupert.
All submissions received by EAO during the comment period in relation to the proposed Project were considered public and are posted to the EAO website.
How can my contribution make a difference?
The intention of seeking public comments was to ensure that all potential effects – environmental, economic, social, heritage and health – that might result from the proposed Project are identified for consideration as part of the assessment process.
