Crown Mountain Coking Coal Project (EAO)
What was this engagement about?
Feedback was invited on the Environmental Assessment of the proposed Crown Mountain Coking Coal Project until June 13, 2016.
NWP Coal Canada Ltd. (Proponent) is proposing to develop an open pit metallurgical coal mine in the Elk Valley, referred to as the Crown Mountain Coking Coal Project. The proposed project would be located in the Elk Valley, approximately 12 kilometers northeast of Sparwood, British Columbia, and it is estimated that it would produce 3.7 million run-of-mine tonnes per year.
How can my contribution make a difference?
The intention of seeking public comments was to ensure that all potential effects – environmental, economic, social, heritage and health – that might result from the proposed Project are identified for consideration as part of the assessment process. At this stage of the process, the primary intent was to receive feedback on studies or information required for a comprehensive assessment. After taking public comments into account, the Valued Components document will be finalized. More information and an electronic copy of the draft Valued Components document can be found here.
