Narrows Inlet Hydro Project 2012 (EAO)
What was this engagement about?
Narrows Inlet Hydro Holding Corp. proposed to construct the Narrows Inlet Hydro Project (Project), which consisted of five small hydroelectric facilities in the Tzoonie River Valley, approximately 50 km north of Sechelt, BC. The proposed Project would have a combined capacity of approximately 44 megawatts. Narrow Inlet Hydro Holding Corp. chose to opt in to the Environmental Assessment process and therefore the Project was reviewed under British Columbia’s Environmental Assessment Act.
Citizens could submit comments about the Project electronically or by mail or fax, or they could attend one of two open houses.
How did my contribution make a difference?
The intention of seeking public comments was to ensure that all potential effects – environmental, economic, social, heritage and health – that might result from the Project were identified for consideration as part of the assessment process.
