Garibaldi Park Management Plan Amendment
What was this engagement about?
In January 2012, BC Parks initiated a management plan amendment process for the Garibaldi Park. BC Parks proposed to amend the sections of the 1990 Garibaldi Park Master Plan related to: land management, cultural resources, hiking/backpacking, mountain biking, winter recreation, and commercial recreation services in the “Spearhead Area” of the Park. All changes to management direction only apply to the Spearhead Area, which encompasses the horseshoe of mountains in the Spearhead and Fitzsimmons ranges that connect Blackcomb Mountain to Whistler Mountain.
How did my contribution make a difference?
Citizens were invited to review the draft management plan amendment, attend open houses in Vancouver and Whistler, and to submit their comments using an online comment form, or by email, mail or fax. By sharing their views, citizens helped guide the parks management planning process and ensured that the public’s perspectives were heard.
