Highway 1 and 216th Interchange
Engagement Summary
The purpose of the project was to provide information and receive feedback about the Highway 1 and 216th Interchange Project.
Public consultation sought feedback on the project design, including pedestrian/cycling improvements, environmental upgrades and noise wall options. The input will be used to help improve and complete the project design.
The Government of B.C., the Government of Canada and the Township of Langley are investing $59 million in the project, which will include the new interchange and lane widening of Highway 1 between 202nd and 216th Street. The 216th Street Interchange Project aims to better accommodate the current daily traffic volume of more than 106,000 vehicles on Highway 1 by helping to reduce congestion and increasing capacity and mobility. This is part of the B.C. on the Move Transportation Plan to improve highway operations, reliability and safety by building or replacing transportation infrastructure.
