Highway 95 – Golden Town Bridges Replacement Project
What was this engagement about?
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is undertaking a planning study to evaluate options to replace Kicking Horse River Bridges 1 and 2 on Highway 95 in the Town of Golden. Regionally, these bridges provide a key link between Highways 1 and 3 and several communities along Highway 95 between Golden and Cranbrook.
Built in 1952, the bridges are nearing the end of their service life. The bridges are safe for users but it is time to begin planning for their replacement. With average daily traffic volumes of approximately 13,000 vehicles per day, the bridges cross the Kicking Horse River on Highway 95 to link the north and south sides of the Town of Golden, including a small stretch of road on Gould’s Island.
