Klappan Plan Implementation

Engagement Summary

The Province of British Columbia and the Tahltan Nation have spent many years developing the Klappan Technical report and the resulting Klappan Plan, in order to address land use and resource management conflicts in the Sacred Headwaters area in northwestern B.C.
 
Following a robust and comprehensive public engagement process throughout the development of the Klappan Plan, it was approved in principle by the B.C. government in March 2017, with a commitment to a further public feedback period prior to final approval and implementation.
 
Part of the approval-in-principle was the establishment of the Klappan Management Board, a joint body of B.C. and Tahltan representatives. The Klappan Management Board sought your views on priority issues for the plan’s implementation.
 
Written submissions were asked to include input on the following questions:

• What, in your view, are the most important issues the Klappan Management Board should work on in the first year of implementation?
• What types of issues are important to be discussed?
• What is the most effective way to continue to involve the public in management of the Klappan?
