Kootenay Lake Ferry Service Improvements
Engagement Summary
The B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure conducted a second engagement on improvements to the Kootenay Lake ferry service and existing Balfour Ferry Terminal. This engagement provided an opportunity to hear from the public on proposed plans to address the ongoing service challenges while retaining the terminal in Balfour.
The public was invited to a public open house and to read the discussion guide prior to filling out an online feedback form.

- 88 people attended two Public Open Houses
- 78 people participated in three Small Group Meetings
- 241 online and hard copy feedback forms were received
- 42 open-ended submissions were received
Input leads to action:
The Ministry is moving ahead with planned improvements to the Kootenay Lake ferry service. The Ministry continues to consider the public input received during the recent consultation as it refines plans for the service going forward.
