Tenas Coal – Environmental Assessment Decision

What was this engagement about?

Telkwa Coal Limited proposed to construct and operate the Tenas Coal project, an open pit coal mine with an estimated production rate of 750,000 tonnes of metallurgical coal per year and an expected lifespan of 25 years.

The public was invited to comment on the draft Application Information Requirements which explained the detailed information required in the Application for an Environmental Assessment Certificate for the proposed Tenas Project.

How will my contribution make a difference?

The intention of the public comments period was to ensure that all potential effects – environmental, economic, social, heritage and health – that might result from the Tenas Project were identified for consideration as part of the assessment process. At this stage of the process, the primary intent was to receive feedback about the studies or information required for a comprehensive environmental assessment.
