Engagement summary
Transit Oriented Development (TOD) equips neighborhoods with housing, amenities, and active transportation options near major transit hubs like bus exchanges. In December 2023, new legislation was enacted requiring some municipalities to designate Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Areas near transit hubs. This includes the area within a 400-metre radius of the Uptown Exchange. They are designed to create convenient access to stores, schools, restaurants, services and public transportation.
A transit exchange at Uptown will be a cornerstone hub in the Greater Victoria Transit network, with connections to major job centres via the active transportation network, including:
- The Lochside and Galloping Goose trails
- The University of Victoria
- The Westshore
- Downtown Victoria
This is a unique opportunity for the public to provide meaningful input at the very early stages of the Uptown Transit-Oriented Development, which will help inform development planning and design moving forward.
Visit the engage site or development website for more information.
How your contribution makes a difference
Feedback will be used to inform development planning and design moving forward. An engagement summary report will be published in Winter 2024 to outline survey results and interest holder feedback heard.
