Your Kid’s Progress
As part of updating and modernizing our education system, the Ministry of Education invited input from parents to help shape what information they receive and how they receive it, including report cards.
This engagement gathered feedback to help guide the development of the reporting approach for students in kindergarten to Grade 9, with the goal of ensuring that parents are well informed about their children, and their children’s progress, as B.C.’s curriculum is enhanced.
October 4, 2016 to February 28, 2017
Input was received through different streams of activities including an online feedback form, 11 community open houses, small in-person focus groups, and local engagements held by school district and school representatives. Throughout the course of the engagement 5,435 feedback forms were received in both English and French, 379 citizens participated in in the community open houses, and the engagement site was visited 28,557 times.
Public feedback, along with input from school district led engagement sessions, research by the Ministry and feedback from experts and teachers, will all be considered as the provincial student reporting approach is finalized.
