Written submission guidelines
Submissions for the engagement on social work oversight in B.C. are now welcome. As the ministry responsible for B.C.’s social work oversight model – as set out in the Social Workers Act and the Social Workers Regulation – the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) is leading a broad engagement on the oversight of all social workers in B.C. This includes social workers employed through private practice, through health authorities, as well as municipalities, First Nations and other community and public-sector employers.
Oversight is the system of standards and requirements that determines who can work as a social worker and the rules they must follow when working. Oversight impacts social workers, employers of social workers, and people who access social work services.
This engagement explores the strengths, challenges and opportunities of the current social work oversight model. It will allow MCFD to develop an understanding of the diverse range of needs, perspectives and opinions on this topic. The information gathered will be used to prepare a “What We Heard Report,” which will reflect key themes and messages raised during the engagement.
Submissions can be sent by individuals, Indigenous communities, governments, and organizations wanting to provide written comments.
Submissions will be accepted in any language and must be sent no later than Friday, January 13th at 4:00 p.m.
Please send submissions to: mcf.socialworkengagement@gov.bc.ca
