What was this engagement about?
From May 31 to July 31 2024, people, organizations and industry groups within B.C. were invited to provide input on draft recommendations for Accessible Service Delivery and Employment Accessibility standards under the Accessible British Columbia Act.
These recommendations will form the basis of future accessibility regulations in B.C.

Accessibility Feedback Tool

Online survey
An online survey was available in six languages until July 31, 2024 at 4pm.
Written and video submissions
All British Columbians, including persons with an impairment and/or persons living with disabilities, advocates, business and industry groups, as well as Indigenous communities and organizations were invited to submit their input before July 31, 2024.
Sector engagement
The Accessibility Directorate held a series of sector partner engagement sessions to collect input on proposed Accessible Service Delivery and Employment Accessibility standards.
Community-led sessions and funding
Indigenous organizations and partners, community organizations, or organizations representing an equity group could apply for funding to host small group roundtables using a provided conversation toolkit.
Virtual regional townhalls
From June 11 to June 27, 2024, the Accessibility Directorate held a series of virtual, regional townhalls to collect input on proposed Accessible Service Delivery and Employment Accessibility standards.
Phase 1 – Pre-consultation: January 2024 to March 2024
Government and the Provincial Accessibility Committee engaged with key partners to:
- Provide an update on the work to advance the development of the accessibility standards
- Create awareness on the public engagement on the draft accessibility standards recommendations
- Receive feedback on who to engage, best approaches for engaging identified groups and opportunities government can use for a meaningful participation in public engagement
Input from the pre-consultation phase informed the approach to the public consultation phase from May 30 to July 31, 2024.
