Over 100 community-led projects supported in BC Parks this year!
Categories:
We are pleased to announce the Community Park Enhancement Fund (PEF) partners and funding for this year. Across the province, $385,508 has been allocated for 104 community-led BC Parks projects to be completed by March 31, 2025. Revenue from the sale of BC Parks licence plates goes into PEF and supports this program.
Over the years, BC Parks has supported community partners who lead important projects that enhance and enrich people’s enjoyment of provincial parks while protecting cultural and conservation values. Last year, BC Parks funded over 90 projects and distributed $360,000 in funding, and this is up from 75 projects and $180,000 the previous year. These funds go to projects that make a meaningful difference in BC Parks, so it’s exciting to see a continued increase in requests for funding in communities across B.C.
Projects this year include:
-trail maintenance, facility improvements, and signage;
-species monitoring, habitat restoration, and species counts (e.g. western toad, bats, birds, and vegetation);
-invasive species management (e.g. European green crab monitoring, broom and English holly removal);
-accessibility projects;
-recreation projects;
-education programs, camps, and more.
