Story provided by BC Park Staff, Rob Wilson
Recently I worked with Divers for Cleaner Lakes and Oceans at Cultus Lake Park. They removed 677lbs of waste from the lake below a popular cliff jumping area. An amazing effort! Just as neat was the dedication of participants in an effort to recycle most of the waste they were able to salvage. The group found thousands of glass bottles and aluminum cans along with many sunglasses, sandals, a bike, chairs, 2 anchors, a prop, an outboard engine cowling and a fishing rod. I would anticipate at least 95% of the items (by weight) will be recycled.
