Online Discussions
As part of the Province’s commitment to engage in meaningful dialogue with multiple audiences on the future of children and youth with support needs (CYSN) services in B.C., the Province promoted four open discussions on important topics related to CYSN services though this online engagement portal. All British Columbians were welcome to share their thoughts and perspectives on the topics raised in these discussions.
About the discussions:
- Discussion #1: Individuals shared their thoughts about the ideas raised in the Parents and Professionals Plan related to individualized funding, collaboration across ministries, and streamlined services to meet the needs of children and youth with support needs. View Discussion #1
- Discussion #2: This discussion was focused on the topics raised in Dr. Robin Friedlander’s presentation during a CYSN symposium speaker series about behavioural complexities and needs of children and youth with neurodevelopment disorders, services and supports during early childhood development, and whether behavioural complexities should be considered in assessments for services and funding. - Discussion #3: Parents, professionals, service providers, communities and others were asked for their feedback on the BC Association of Child Development and Intervention’s (BCACDI) service delivery transformation proposal and the role of agency coordinated services in meeting the support needs of children, youth and their families. - Discussion #4: People shared their thoughts about the Ministry of Education and Child Care’s Inclusive Child Care Strategy and what it means to create inclusivity and belonging in child care for children with support needs. View Discussion #4
Although the online discussions are now closed, British Columbians are welcome to share additional thoughts and perspectives on these topics through the online feedback form. All comments through the online feedback form will be collected as part of the overall work to design an effective system of services for children and youth with support needs.
