The purpose of this engagement is to gather feedback from people across British Columbia to help the Province develop a climate preparedness and adaptation strategy to be released in 2020.

The period to provide input will run from November 7, 2019 until January 10, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. During this time, individuals and other organizations are invited to share their thoughts through the online questionnaire, discussion forum, and written submissions.

Public input from the online engagement will be incorporated into a “What We Heard” report to be released in early 2020. Following this, the Province will release an intentions paper detailing the policy direction government plans to use in developing the climate preparedness and adaptation strategy.

The input gathered over this period will add to ongoing engagements with Indigenous communities and local governments, organizations, stakeholder groups, and youth.

Emergency Management BC is also examining ways to modernize its legislation and approaches to responding to significant, environmental emergency events around BC. If you have ideas to share go to Modernizing the Emergency Management Act.
