Engagement Summary
The Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA) governs sustainable management of B.C.’s public forest and range resources such as:
- Forest planning
- Road building
- Reforestation
- Livestock grazing
It covers planning and practices that protect these resources and public safety. It also provides oversight for rights holders.
The Province sought feedback on these proposed changes that would increase local control and prioritize forest health. Communities, industries, organizations, and Indigenous Nations were encouraged to provide feedback based on a discussion paper. The paper outlined five themes to help inform legislative changes:
- Climate change and resilient landscapes
- Landscape-level planning
- Public trust
- Resource values and objectives
- Oversight and accountability
