The proposed Order Establishing Land Use Objectives for the Nahmint Landscape Unit (LU), south of Port Alberni, was open for public review and comment. The final version will establish legal old growth management areas (OGMAs). 6,461 forested hectares are proposed for protection in the Nahmint LU to manage the conservation of biodiversity.
The Order Establishing Land Use Objectives is informed by the Nahmint Landscape Unit Plan. The Plan describes all the legal objectives, policy, guidelines, and key considerations that are the foundation for OGMA selection.
