Engagement Summary
Attorney General David Eby, QC, engaged practising lawyer Jamie Maclaren QC to conduct an independent review of British Columbia’s legal aid service delivery system, including a report with recommendations, by December 31, 2018.
Mr. Maclaren conducted a review according to Terms of Reference laid out by the Attorney General. The review focused on the effectiveness and efficiencies of legal aid service delivery models from the point of view of British Columbians who use legal aid services, in aim of advancing the rule of law and access to justice.
As a part of the review process written submissions were accepted by email until November 23, 2018.

Input leads to action:
Mr. Maclaren will consider all public feedback in the development of his report and recommendations. In turn, his recommendations may inform future system changes to enhance both the user and public interest in more effective, efficient and accessible legal aid services.
