Engagement summary
Phase 1
Engagement is an important part of the shíshálh-B.C. land use planning approach. It will occur at key plan development phases to ensure local interests and priorities are identified and included in the process.
Between November 2020 and February 2021, the shíshálh-B.C. Land Use Planning Table hosted engagement activities to identify interests, concerns, and opportunities related to the land use planning process. This included focused workshops and a public questionnaire.

Phase 2
Studies have been done to better understand the status of values in the swiya. Current condition assessments for selected values have been completed (shíshálh-BC Land Use Plan – Current Condition Assessment – Main App). shíshálh Nation community members, local governments, affected and interested parties, industry and the public are now being engaged to gather input on the assessment findings and preliminary considerations for planning. The Current Condition Assessments and engagement results will inform the planning process going forward.
The public will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about the current condition assessments done as part of this phase of the Land Use Plan.
- Provide input that will help shape the Land Use Plan
Public engagement opportunities include:
- A public questionnaire

How your contribution makes a difference
Feedback from this engagement will inform the development of a land use management recommendation in the next phase of the land use planning process. More specifically, your input will contribute to the understanding of your interests on the key findings and preliminary considerations for planning of the current condition assessments. This knowledge will be considered when analyzing the potential benefits of different management options.
